Podcast Logo design
A call from an acquaintance connected me to the client: there was a need for a logo for an upcoming podcast about brass players in the Finnish music scene. The client had tested AI to make the logo, so my job was to make the vision work.
Before I got more details about the project from the client, I sketched down some ideas I initially got from the acquaintance's briefing in case there’s something useful there. I did later show the sketches to the client, to show I had tested the ideas they had also thought about.

The podcast was more serious in tone, so these were a no-go. The biggest challenge was to visualize the topic and possibly the word play in the name without the imagery going too much in the humorous territory.
Sketch versions and different possibilities before finalizing
The blue was from the Finnish flag as per client’s request, so I paired it with white. For the background I sampled the metallic surface of a trombone and blurred it for a softer look that keeps the logo in focus.
We came to the conclusion that warmer background and simple imagery worked best, so the mustaches had to go, as fun as they had been to try along with the different fonts. The word play just turned visually too playful for the tone of the podcast, and the colours already highlighted it.
The final version
The client was very happy with the result and that the logo was human-made. I heard that it got good feedback from the listeners as well.
